Uhuru Rallies Youth, Warns Against Divisive Politics at Jubilee NDC

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on young Kenyans to step into leadership, praising their courage during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests. Speaking at the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi, he described the youth as a “tribeless generation” with the power to reshape the country’s future.

“I have watched carefully beyond the noise of the past and admire the tribeless generation of our time. It is my hope that the young ones with courage on the streets can use it to transform our country,” Kenyatta told delegates.

The former head of state also took a swipe at President William Ruto, accusing him of eroding gains made under his administration. He said programs like Linda Mama, which offered free maternity care, had been replaced by “untried and untested schemes,” leaving Kenyans to suffer as they wait for new systems to take shape.

Kenyatta further urged leaders to avoid divisive rhetoric, warning that the “hustler-dynasty” narrative used in the 2022 election undermined unity. He insisted that every Kenyan, regardless of background, deserves an equal chance at leadership.

“This machine we built was not meant to face citizens. Ilikuwa ya kulinda wananchi sio kuumiza,” he added, urging the government to prioritize improving lives over instilling fear.
