DCP Celebrates First MP as Gachagua Hails OlKalou Voters

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has secured its first seat in the National Assembly following the election of Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru as OlKalou Member of Parliament. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua described the victory as a clear expression of the will of the electorate.

In a statement after the results, Gachagua congratulated Waweru on what he termed a historic win, saying the decisive margin reflected the people’s choice. He also thanked residents of OlKalou for handing DCP its first parliamentary seat and credited them for protecting their votes throughout the election.

Gachagua claimed the voters remained steadfast despite what he described as intimidation by rogue police officers armed with guns and tear gas. He further praised the electorate for rejecting inducements and what he called the deception of development projects during the campaign.

The former Deputy President said Waweru’s election strengthens his political movement, adding that the new legislator becomes the 19th member of the team he says is defending the interests of Kenyans.

“I have been struggling with 18 soldiers but with great results; now I have 19, things will be much better,” Gachagua said.

He also commended campaign leaders John Methu Gitungati and Wanjiku Muhia Ngatha, alongside senators, MPs, MCAs, volunteers, aspirants and campaign staff, for their role in the three-month campaign. Gachagua said he would visit all five wards of OlKalou to personally thank residents, saying he had been “directed by the community” to do so.

Gachagua announced that he would tour all five wards of OlKalou to thank residents personally and urged the newly elected MP to serve the constituency diligently while representing the people effectively. He also told the new legislator to ensure he serves the people diligently, and represent them well when it matters.
