Kenya’s President William Ruto has congratulated Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on her resounding victory in the recent general election, where she secured 98 percent of the vote. In a statement shared on his official social media platforms on Monday, Ruto extended his best wishes to President Suluhu, describing her win as a reflection of the confidence Tanzanians have in her leadership.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Kenya, I extend sincere congratulations to Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan on her re-election,” Ruto stated, reaffirming the close bond between the two neighbouring nations. He noted that Kenya and Tanzania share “deep historical ties and common aspirations for the prosperity and stability of our peoples,” emphasizing that their cooperation remains central to the progress of the East African Community (EAC).
Ruto further urged Tanzanians to remain peaceful and to uphold the rule of law during the post-election period. He called on political leaders and citizens alike to embrace dialogue and tolerance as they continue building their democracy. “I encourage all political actors and stakeholders to embrace dialogue and tolerance as they seek to resolve any issues at hand in order to safeguard democracy and stability,” he said.
The Kenyan President reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening regional collaboration, especially in trade, infrastructure, and peacebuilding. He assured that Kenya is ready to work closely with Tanzania to foster unity and prosperity in the region. “Kenya stands ready to continue engaging constructively in the pursuit of our shared vision for a peaceful, prosperous, and integrated East Africa,” he added.
Ruto’s message reflects the spirit of partnership that has long defined Kenya-Tanzania relations, highlighting both nations’ shared commitment to peace, stability, and regional integration within the EAC framework.
