NARC Party leader Martha Karua has said that she welcomes Raila Odinga’s decision to exit Kenyan politics if elected AUC Chairperson.
While issuing a press conference earlier today, the Azimio La Umoja Deputy Party leader stated that while the decision is welcome, the opposition, of which the NARC Party is a part, will continue to keep the government in check. She emphasized that their stay in the opposition trenches is not dependent on Raila’s presence.
‘We welcome Raila’s decision to exit from active politics if elected AU-C Chair and wish him all the best on his journey. However, we in the opposition resolve to continue keeping the government in check, as our role in overseeing the government is not predicated on his presence. NARC Kenya will stand for the rights of Kenyans, and we will collaborate with our colleagues, joining forces to fight for what is right,’ said Karua.
Raila Odinga mentioned that he intends to exit the Kenyan political space and will no longer actively participate in Kenyan politics, as his focus is now on the AUC chairmanship.”
