Magwanga Resigns as Homa Bay Deputy Governor.

Oyugi Magwanga has resigned from his position as Deputy Governor of Homa Bay County, citing frustrations with the county leadership following a prolonged fallout with Governor Gladys Wanga.

In a resignation letter addressed to the governor and copied to the county assembly, Magwanga said his decision was reached after careful consideration, pointing to what he described as challenges in executing his mandate within the current administration.

He noted that persistent disagreements and operational constraints had made it difficult for him to effectively serve residents of Homa Bay.The resignation marks a significant political shift in the county’s leadership and is expected to trigger constitutional procedures to fill the vacancy, subject to approval by the County Assembly.

Political observers in the region indicate that Magwanga is preparing to contest the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat in the next general election. His anticipated bid sets the stage for a potential contest against Governor Wanga, who is serving her first term.

The development is likely to reshape the political landscape in Homa Bay County, with local leaders and residents closely watching how the transition unfolds and how alliances may shift ahead of the elections.County officials have yet to issue a detailed public response regarding the resignation.
