Super Metro Limited has addressed reports concerning an incident in which a passenger was allegedly thrown from one of its vehicles by a conductor.According to the company, the incident occurred on the night of 24 February 2026 at around 11:00 p.m. in Kitengela.
The vehicle, registration number KDK 060H, was traveling to Nairobi’s Central Business District with 32 passengers on board at the time.Reports indicate that boda boda riders stopped the vehicle, alleging that the conductor had pushed a passenger out of the moving matatu.
Police later intervened and took control of the situation.Preliminary information suggests that the incident resulted in a fatality.
The vehicle was taken to Athi River Police Station, and both the driver and conductor were placed in police custody to assist with investigations.In its statement, Super Metro Limited expressed regret over the reported loss of life and extended condolences to the affected family.
The company confirmed it is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) as investigations continue.Super Metro also stated that it has launched an internal review to assess whether any company policies or procedures were violated and to determine what additional safety measures may be necessary.
Authorities have indicated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
