Liquor Licenses Of 43 Clubs In Nairobi Revoked Over Noise Pollution

The Director of Liquor Licensing has revoked the liquor licenses of 43 night clubs in Nairobi after residents complained of noise and disturbance.

In a letter dated Monday, October 3, the entertainment joints have been ordered to start the official process of closing down their premises as per the provision of the Nairobi City Council Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Act 2014 in line with Section 21 (1) and 35 (3).

The letter stated that the joints had refused to comply with the guidelines despite many arrests and arraignment in court by the law enforcers.

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, who has been urging the government to ban the noisy entertainment facilities in his ward, commended the Director of Liquor Licensing.

The nightclubs are mainly located in Kibra, Roysambu, Lang’ata, Westlands, Roysambu, Dagoretti North, Embakasi West and Kamukunji .

However, a segment of Kenyans seemed displeased by the directorate of Liquor Licensing and urged him not to spare churches too as they pollute the environment too.
