Dutch King Willem-Alexander has urged President William Ruto to respect the voices of the citizens.
King Willem-Alexander is currently on a three-day visit in Kenya. He has insisted that both nations share values based on good governance and accountability. This comes at a time when the Kenya Kwanza administration has faced numerous critics of bad governance. Last year the young generations took to the streets to demand the resignation of the president. Recently William Ruto signed a deal with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during his visit, King Willem-Alexander said they will discuss those issues. “The people of Kenya, like those in the Netherlands, want their rights as free citizens to be respected and their voices heard. I am pleased that our strong relationship allows us to focus on key issues such as human rights, good governance, and accountability during this visit. We are grateful to discuss the concerns existing in these areas. Later this morning, we will meet young Kenyans to get their views on recent developments.” He said.
