Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro declined to declare his next political move a few days after his removal and replacement as chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee.
Addressing the press on Tuesday March, 18, at his KICC office, in Nairobi, Nyoro appreciated for being bestowed a chance to serve as the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriation Committee Chair. He acknowledged his commitment during his tenure, saying he needs more time to think before declaring his next political course.
“I would not want to discuss any leader further. I stopped serving in my position barely a week ago, and I still need to understand many things before I speak,” Nyoro stated.
The second-term MP acknowledged the growing anticipation among Kenyans regarding his political future but said he would wait for the right moment.
“I know people have expectations about what I should say, when, and how. I receive messages every day advising me on what to do and how to do it,” he added.
However, Nyoro explained that he stayed in the dark not to know any plan for his removal from that office stating that he only read about it in newspapers. According to him, not even anyone from the Kenya Kwanza fraction reached out to him to discuss the changes made to his office last week.
“I am grateful to the Kenyan people for allowing me to serve in that capacity, especially at a time when our country needed us to fulfil our mandate,” he said.
Addressing criticism from MPs who claimed he was channelling disproportionate resources to his constituency while chairing the Budget Committee, Nyoro said he would not engage in political mudslinging.
“I do not respond to evil with evil, nor do I answer insults with insults,” he said, further stating, “In politics, you draw your line and decide what kind of politics you want to engage in.”
Following his removal, Nyoro’s position was taken over by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, a member of the opposition ODM party. Nyoro now becomes one among other leaders from the fraction belonging to allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who have faced the wrath of being evacuated from key parliamentary leadership positions since impeachment of Gachagua that happened in late October, 2024.
