The resumption of flights aligns with the objectives of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), aimed at enhancing connectivity and efficient movement of goods and people across Kenya. Through initiatives like BETA, the government seeks to improve market access, reduce transportation costs, and boost productivity across economic sectors.

The renewed air services highlight counties’ pivotal role as drivers of growth and opportunity. This step underscores our collective commitment to regional development, connectivity, and economic prosperity.

Kenya Airways’ international presence is also noteworthy, with an extensive route network spanning 44 direct destinations across four continents, with 37 in Africa. This, coupled with numerous codeshares and alliance partnerships, extends the airline’s reach globally.

The Eldoret route is expected to facilitate vital connections between families, stimulate business opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the local tourism industry. Additionally, it provides a gateway for students, farmers, traders, and sportspeople to access global opportunities.

Moreover, the resumption of flights will benefit small and large-scale farmers in the NOREB region, enabling them to leverage diversified transport logistics to capitalize on initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), and the Kenya-US African Growth Opportunity Agreement (AGOA), among others.

The Ministry of Transport expressed its enthusiasm for Kenya Airways’ alignment with and support for the government’s development agenda.
