President William Ruto on Friday spent the night within the Lakeside city before continuing with his two-day tour of the region.
The President accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday morning went to Kisumu Port to familiarize himself with the activities there. At the Port, the President also inspected ongoing activities at the Kenya Shipyard.
The MV Uhuru I linkspan is already undergoing major renovations. It is a crucial installation that enables wagon loading and unloading. For the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as well as for other commercial and public clients, KSL continues to provide new build, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of maritime vessels.
The President took a flight from the Port to Siaya County where he will preside over the opening of the Blue Economy Research Hub at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST). He is also anticipated at the gratitude event that ICT CS Eliud Owalo is organizing in the Rarieda constituency of Asembo.
At the StateLodge on Friday, President Ruto met with regional leaders. He initially met separately with the governor of the Migori county, Ochillo Ayacko, and afterwards with the governor of Kisumu, Anyang Nyong’o.
He was accompanied during the Kisumu port inspection by Governor Anyang Nyong’o.
