President William Ruto To Address The 77TH UNGA Session In New York

Dr. William Samoei Ruto will tonight on September 21st make his maiden address at the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA.

The President who is among world leaders to attend the conference held under the theme; A watershed moment, transformative solutions interlocking challenges. With war in Ukraine, climate change, peace stability and nuclear disarmament dominating speeches and discussions during the forum at the UN Headquarters.

Ruto will give his first address as the fifth President of Kenya to UN and hold bilateral talks with other Presidents and government. As a coordinator, he will also chair a meeting of the Conference of African Heads of States on Climate Crisis (CAHOSCC).

According to a statement from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UNGA meeting concides with the worst drought in the whole of Africa with many countries in the region including Kenya experiencing unprecedented effects in the last 40 years.

“Kenya is a committed member of the global community of nations. We share a strong interest in the preservation of peace, prosperity and dignity for all people and the protection of our planet and its resources.” Ruto tweeted.
