Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi Ditches Azimio Party For United Democratic Alliance (UDA)

President elect and chairman of United Democratic Alliance, Dr. William Samoei Ruto has welcomed former Meru governor, Kiraitu Murungi into his party (Kenya Kwanza).

In his post, William Ruto stated that he was committed to work with leaders to deliver to the interests of Kenya citizens.

“We welcome the Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) to Kenya Kwanza. Their resolve to work with us is an indication that leaders agree that the interest of Kenyans override our personal or party interest.” Read.

Kiraitu who is the flag bearer of Democratic Empowerment Party (DEP) initially supported Azimio La Umoja (One Party) lead by former prime minister, Raila Odinga.

He is a long serving politician as a member of parliament, senator and also a governor. However, he lost his gubernatorial seat to honorable Kawira Mwangaza in the just concluded 9th August general elections.

Ruto since been declared president elect has succeeded in convincing several parties and independent candidates to join his alliance. Some include, Ugenya MP David Ochieng and his Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party, former Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana and Mandera Senator-elect Ali Roba with his party the United Democratic Movement (UDM).
