Ruto Urges New CSs, PSs to Focus on Delivery

NAIROBI – President William Ruto has urged newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries to remain focused on service delivery and avoid the distractions of high office.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto emphasized the need for the new appointees to concentrate on their mandates and ignore political noise.

“There is too much noise out there, but you must keep your eye on the ball. Do not be distracted,” said Ruto.

Geoffrey Ruku (Public Service) and Hanna Wendot Cheptumo (Gender) were sworn in as Cabinet Secretaries, while 14 new Principal Secretaries also took office. They include Boniface Makokha (Economic Planning), Carren Achieng (Children Welfare), Aden Millah (Shipping and Maritime), Fikirini Jacobs (Youth and Sports), Michael Lenasalon (Devolution), and Cyrell Wagunda (Public Investments).

Others are Regina Omban (Trade), Dr Jane Imbunya (Public Service), Stephen Isaboke (Broadcasting), Prof Shaukat Abdulrazak (Science and Innovation), Judith Pareno (Constitutional Affairs), Ahmed Ibrahim (Government Coordination), Dr Fredrick Oluga (Medical Services), and Dr Caroline Karugu (East African Community).

Ruto highlighted progress made in key areas since 2022, including the Affordable Housing Programme, where 240,000 units are under construction, creation of youth jobs, the rollout of Universal Health Coverage through the Social Health Authority, employment of 76,000 teachers, and reforms in agriculture.

He also cited KSh60 billion released to settle pending infrastructure payments and revive road projects.

Calling for integrity, the President urged the appointees to fight corruption and serve with honour. He returned the Conflict of Interest Bill to Parliament for review, insisting on stronger anti-corruption measures.

“Public expectations are high. Failure is not an option,” he concluded.
