Raila To Attend Funeral In Kisii On Friday While Ruto Is On Tour

While he increases pressure on President William Ruto to take action against soaring prices, Azimio leader Raila Odinga will be in Kisii on Friday to attend a funeral.

Executive of the ODM party’s Kisii branch Kerosi Ondieki claimed that Odinga’s visit was unrelated to the ongoing anti-government demonstrations. For the time being, Ondieki stated, “he is beginning to lament the loss of a supporter he greatly valued.”

Residents would begin joining Odinga in the protests the following week, according to Ondieki. He stated that Jackson Ontegi, a former Kisii branch ODM branch executive, had just recently expressed a desire to attend his mother’s funeral at their Keumbu home in Nyaribari Chache.

Odinga’s trip to Kisii coincides with escalating demonstrations against President William Ruto, whom he accuses of neglecting to lower living expenses. The president is in Gusii for a three-day inspection tour of development projects at the same time as his visit.

The president of Germany Bank visited Nyaribari Chache in Kisii, where he signed off on the Sh1.6 billion Kegati water project.

Ruto will attend a homecoming party organized by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu on Friday in Gesusu, a town not far from Keumbu. Following Monday’s demonstrations in Nairobi’s capital, Odinga spoke about an alleged attempt on his life on Wednesday.

Nonetheless, he claimed that owing to “popular demand,” the protests will now take place twice a week.

He intensified the assault and held a news conference on Tuesday to declare a boycott of specific goods. Ruto instructed Odinga to calm down with the demonstrations and give him time to complete development projects in Kisii.
