Raila Hosts Tanzania Opposition Leaders, Shares on How to Strengthen Democracy in Africa

ODM leader Hon. Raila Odinga hosted Tanzanian opposition leaders today at his Capital Hill office, Nairobi. The leaders from the neighbouring country reportedly paid him a courtesy call for consultation.

“I held discussions with visiting Tanzanian opposition leaders who paid me a courtesy call,” he revealed, via his social post.

In his long statement, Odinga further revealed that their talk delved into conversations that aim to improve Africa’s state of democracy while also enhancing effective national development.

“We exchanged views on strengthening democracy on the continent, including effective contribution to national development by parties both in and outside government,” he continued to note.

Just like Kenya’s context, the former Prime Minister encouraged the Tanzanian opposition leaders to prioritize dialogue and constructive engagement with their government in the interest of the nation and the preservation of Tanzanian democracy.

Moreover, he wished peace to reign for Tanzania in their forthcoming general elections, emphasizing on the need for politicians to keep at heart the interest of the people.
