President William Ruto has appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to serve as Acting Cabinet Secretary for all ministries.
In a gazette notice dated July 11, Ruto announced that Mudavadi would assume the responsibilities of CS across all ministries.
This decision follows the President’s dismissal of all his cabinet secretaries a week prior.
“Under Article 152 (5) (a) of the Constitution, Hon. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., is designated as the Acting Cabinet Secretary for all vacant ministerial positions,” stated the gazette notice.
Ruto dissolved his entire cabinet, including all CSs and the Attorney General. Only Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi, who also serves as the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS, retained his position.
The President indicated that a new cabinet would be appointed after thorough consultations across various sectors.
With the CSs out of office, ministry accounting officers and other officials will temporarily oversee operations.
