Keynan Calls For Truce after The High Court Dismisses His Election Petition

Eldas MP Adan Keynan has urged his political opponents to put aside their differences and work together with him to serve the residents of the area for the next five years, following the dismissal of an election petition challenging his victory by the High Court in Nairobi.

Keynan, who is in his fifth term in parliament and is one of the country’s longest-serving legislators, stated that the people of Wajir County, where he is from, want their leaders to work together to address their challenges over the next five years and are not interested in empty rhetoric.

The Eldas MP stated that the locals want to see the county and national governments address issues like the drought and a lack of necessities like clean water and accessible roads, as well as the need for bursaries for deserving and gifted students to ensure their families’ safety and access to nearby medical facilities.

As he will be their leader until 2027, when they will elect a new leader, the legislator who was elected on a Jubilee Party platform stated that he would not like to govern a split constituency and that he was prepared to serve all the citizens whether or not they chose him.

According to Justice Stephen Riechi, the election of Keynan as Eldas MP was conducted in compliance with the law, and the anomalies noted by petitioner Ahmed Arale, who ran for the position on the ODM Party ticket, had no bearing on the election’s final results.
