Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon has assured the country that the commission is committed to fairness and transparency in the conduct of upcoming by-elections and the 2027 General Elections.
Addressing the public, Ethekon emphasized that the commission would uphold the rule of law and ensure inclusivity throughout its operations. He stated that the IEBC remains focused on delivering free, fair, and credible elections that reflect the will of the people, adding that integrity would not be compromised at any stage of the electoral process.
This assurance comes at a time when a section of the political class has expressed renewed confidence in the commission. Several leaders have publicly affirmed their trust in the IEBC, urging the electoral body to remain steadfast and resist any attempts to use it for selfish political interests.
The backing from political leaders and the reaffirmation from the chairperson are seen as key steps toward rebuilding public confidence in the electoral process, especially in light of challenges faced in past elections.
