“I am Innocent”, Kericho County Governor Says As DCI Commences Investigations Into Misappropriation of Funds

Kericho County Governor Dr. Mutai has distanced himself from the allegations surrounding the misappropriation of funds meant to compensate Londiani Junction accident victims and their families.

While speaking at the County Headquarters on Wednesday morning, Dr. Mutai maintained that he is innocent, asserting that he was not aware of any such misallocation of funds. He went further to form a committee to investigate the allegations, where over Ksh. 8 million were lost in unclear circumstances.

“I am forming a committee to establish the allegations. I Am not aware of any misappropriation of any funds and if anyone in my administration is found culpable, they will face the consequences,” said Mutai.

The County chief came under fire after reports emerged that Ksh. 13 million contributed during the fund drive presided over by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was stolen and only 3.1 million spent to cater for the victims hospital bills.

The DCI has embarked on investigation into the matter.
