Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has come out to defend the decision by President William Ruto to create 7 new state departments, saying these new positions are created to enhance service delivery.
According to Mwaura, the government has no set limit on the state departments it should have, further explaining that state departments are only created based on the services the government ought to offer to its citizens.
This new story on creating more state departments now unfolds just a few months after President William Ruto called for austerity measures within the government. The new announcement by the Head of State to create more state departments now raises eyebrows among Kenyans who are left wondering how state will acquire the fundings for the new departments.
Currently, each PS earns a salary of Ksh792,519. Therefore, the 7 new PS positions will attract an additional expenditure of Ksh5.5 million per month. Notably, with their staff, the monthly expenditure could increase significantly affecting the economy of the country.
