Gachagua Defends Government Agenda in Ramogi TV Interview, Calls for National Unity

Former deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called for unity and mutual respect among Kenyans, even as he defended the government’s development agenda during a candid interview on Ramogi TV.Speaking during the televised session, Gachagua sought to address concerns from the Luo community, emphasizing that the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to equitable development across all regions regardless of political affiliation.

He noted that no part of the country should feel excluded from national programs, particularly in key sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and housing. The former Deputy President acknowledged the existence of political differences between the government and opposition strongholds but insisted that such divisions should not hinder service delivery.

He urged leaders to prioritize the needs of citizens over partisan interests, adding that the government remains open to engagement and dialogue.During the interview, Gachagua also responded to questions regarding his past remarks that have drawn criticism from some quarters.

He maintained that his statements have often been taken out of context and reiterated his respect for all communities in Kenya. At certain points, the discussion grew tense as hosts pressed him on sensitive political issues, including relations between the government and opposition leaders.

However, Gachagua stood his ground, defending the administration’s policies while reiterating his call for constructive political discourse. The appearance on Ramogi TV is seen as part of a broader effort by the Deputy President to reach diverse audiences and ease political tensions across the country.

Analysts view such engagements as significant in fostering dialogue, particularly in regions that have historically supported opposition politics.Gachagua concluded by urging Kenyans to embrace unity and focus on development, saying the country’s progress depends on collective effort and inclusive leadership.
