Arati Rallies Nairobi ODM Leaders Ahead of High-Stakes Delegates Conference

Simba Arati, the Deputy Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), on Thursday convened a high-level consultative meeting with Nairobi-based Members of Parliament and Members of County Assembly as the party intensifies preparations for its much-anticipated National Delegates Conference (NDC).

The meeting, held in Nairobi, brought together influential grassroots mobilizers and elected leaders who play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s direction within the capital. It comes just a day before the NDC, a crucial organ of the party that is expected to make far-reaching decisions on leadership, policy direction, and political strategy.

According to insiders, the closed-door session focused on consolidating unity within ODM ranks in Nairobi, amid growing political realignments and internal competition. Arati is reported to have urged the leaders to remain steadfast and avoid divisions that could weaken the party’s influence in the region.

He emphasized the importance of presenting a united front during the conference, noting that Nairobi remains a strategic political hub that significantly shapes national discourse. The discussions also touched on delegate mobilization, with MPs and MCAs tasked with ensuring strong representation from their respective constituencies and wards.

Leaders reviewed the agenda of the conference and aligned on key issues expected to dominate proceedings, including party reforms, grassroots strengthening, and strategies to counter rival political formations.

Arati, known for his firm stance within ODM, is said to have reminded attendees of the party’s legacy and its role in championing democratic ideals in the country. He called for discipline and loyalty among members, warning against actions that could undermine the party from within, especially at a time when unity is critical.

Nairobi ODM legislators and ward representatives, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to the party, pledging to support resolutions that will be adopted during the NDC. They acknowledged the need for cohesion as the party navigates an evolving political landscape marked by shifting alliances and heightened competition.

The upcoming National Delegates Conference is expected to attract thousands of delegates from across the country, making it one of ODM’s most significant gatherings in recent times.Key resolutions from the conference are likely to influence the party’s roadmap ahead of future political contests, including its positioning on national issues and engagement with other political actors.

Political observers view the Nairobi meeting as a strategic move by the ODM leadership to solidify its support base in the العاصمة, ensuring that the capital speaks with one voice during the conference. As anticipation builds, all eyes are now on the NDC and the signals it will send about the party’s future direction.
