The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party has announced a major shake-up within its leadership structures after holding a joint meeting to review the composition of its key governing organs.In the changes announced, the coalition resolved to terminate several members from the Azimio Coalition Council, one of the top decision-making bodies within the coalition.
Those removed from the council include former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.The coalition also removed ten leaders from the Azimio Coalition Executive Council, another key organ tasked with coordinating the coalition’s political strategy and operations.
Those affected by the decision include former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Eldas MP Adan Keynan, Pokot South MP David Pkosing, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, Abdul Haji, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Isabella Wangechi Githinji, Caroline Wanjiru Karugu and Solomon Kuria.In a related move, the coalition further removed Junet Mohamed from his position as the Azimio Parliamentary Group Leader in the National Assembly.
The position will now be held by Caroli Omondi, who has been appointed to take over the role as the coalition reorganizes its parliamentary leadership.The coalition stated that the changes are part of an ongoing restructuring aimed at strengthening its internal governance and preparing the alliance for future political engagements.
According to the party leadership, the reorganization is also intended to expand the coalition and accommodate new leaders in its governing organs.Azimio officials indicated that the party will soon announce replacements for the affected positions.
The new appointments are expected to form part of an expanded coalition structure designed to enhance coordination among member parties and improve the coalition’s political strategy moving forward.
