“Give Me One Month to Clear The Mess at NTSA,”- CS Kipchumba Murkomen Tells Kenyans

Transport cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen  has asked Kenyans to give him only one month to sort out the mess at the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) after he made an impromptu visit to the offices yesterday.

According to the CS, there are cases of delays in the processing of digitized number plates, delays in the processing of log books, and systems lacking accountability, transparency, and backlog, lapses that he has vowed to deal with in the next one month.

“While at NTSA Headquarters in Upper Hill this afternoon, I spoke to Maurice, a customer based in Mombasa, who has been waiting for his digital number plate for a while now. Despite the number plate being ready for collection and a notification sent to him from NTSA – Nairobi confirming the same, unnecessary bureaucratic processes and red tapes have led to delays in dispatching the number plate. I have instructed officials at NTSA – Nairobi to fast-track the delivery process and ensure Maurice receives his digital number plate by Monday next week. This principle should apply to all our customers. “Said CS Kipchumba Murkomen.

Murkomen noted several cases of laxity at the agency, which should be serving Kenyans, and has vowed to deal with them in a month, while also ordering the agency to clear the backlog of number plates in two weeks.

“I have given NTSA two weeks to clear this backlog, notify Kenyans of their nearest collection points, and put in place the necessary mechanisms to speed up the turn-around time for processing and issuance of DLs, logbooks, and digital number plates. Said Murkomen.

Murkomen warned the cartels that if they tried to derail the agency’s efforts to streamline services and perpetuate corruption in the ministry, they would be crashed.
