After the CS for Education Prof.George Magoha gave a directive for the learning institutions to be closed
on Tuesday, many Kenyans were not pleased by the directive; Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education
Teachers (KUPPET) is the latest to falter the CS for his announcement.
KUPPET through their secretary general (Akelo Misori), has said today, Tuesday, that the announcement
has led to the disruption of the school calendar, since the election date was known well before.
Therefore the sudden closure of the schools was not well thought.
“It has clearly disrupted the school’s calendar, but more importantly is the date that he has indicated
when learning will resume, that one is not practical because the whole nation will be very anxious, “He
told the media.
Magoha during his announcement on Monday, 1st August stated that all the schools and parents were
to ensure that their learners proceeded for the final half term on Tuesday, 2nd August.
“Schools and parents are advised to ensure that learners from all basic education institutions proceed
on their half term effective Tuesday, August 2, and resume Thursday, August 11, 2022,”Magoha said.
