William Ruto: “I Had A Telephone Conversation With My Boss, Uhuru”

President elect, William Samoei Ruto has revealed to have conversed with the outgoing president and his boss, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta via a phone call.

According to the message on his post, they reviewed the just concluded 9th August election and on matters of the country’s democratic history, heritage and policies to ensure that the new administration maintains as intended.

I had a telephone conversation with my boss, President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. We discussed the just concluded general election and the transition as envisaged by our democratic tradition and practice.” Wrote the DP.

It is believed that the two top government officials fell apart after March 2018 when the president and the former prime minister Raila who were at the helm of divisive politics came together in a dramatic deal to form the famous ‘Handshake’. Since then the deputy president seemed to be left out on major government events not mentioning when Uhuru took sides to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) chaired by Raila and even went ahead to campaign for him in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking after the Supreme Court verdict on Monday Ruto disclosed that they had not spoken for a long period with his boss and promised to give him a call. We hope to see them resolve for a smooth handover and for the betterment of the country.
