Wetang’ula: Uhuru Should Avoid Politics Because It Will Tarnish His Reputation

Moses Wetang’ula, the speaker of the National Assembly, has urged Uhuru Kenyatta not to get involved in politics.

Wetang’ula stated in a statement on Tuesday that Uhuru ought to give William Ruto, his successor, time to develop the country’s economy. He urged the former president to take a cue from the late Mzee Moi and Mzee Kibaki, who retired in peace after serving their periods of office.

“My recommendation to him is to stay out of politics because his involvement in politics will damage his reputation.”

According to Wetang’ula, Uhuru should take it easy in his retirement and treat the current leaders with respect. Since ceding office, the former president has kept to himself and avoided the spotlight. Uhuru did, however, reaffirm his position in the Azimio La Umoja Alliance in February.

Notwithstanding his silence, he declared that he is still a member of the Azimio.

“I’m not worn out just because I’m retired. some retire and strengthen their political position, “added he.

“Even though I’ve given up on politics, I continue to support Raila. I have to go if he asks me to. I stood by him and will do so in the future because I think he is telling the truth.”

He clarified that the reason he backed Raila was because he had excellent intentions for Kenyans and that he would support him no matter what he said.

Because I think Raila is a sincere individual who desires to bring Kenyans together, I supported him before the elections and I will continue to do so now, Uhuru remarked.

I’ll be there wherever Raila goes because it’s my democratic right to support anyone I choose. I’m not running for any particular seat, though.

Wetang’ula was present at Mzee Samuel Kipruto Koech’s burial in Uasin Gishu County on Tuesday.

He praised him as a diligent and committed public worker whose outstanding leadership abilities influenced society. Wetang’ula claimed that he will be cherished for using his position as an administrator to support society’s transformation through good growth.
