Veteran Journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela Officially Sworn In As A Member Of The National Heroes Council

Famous veteran media personality Leonard Mambo Mbotela has been sworn in as a member of the National Heroes Council.

Mbotela was appointed at the board last month by acting Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage Amina Mohamed and was affirmed today at the Supreme Court in an event presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Speaking during the event, the CJ noted that it is important if we develop a culture of recognising and celebrating our great men and women while they are still alive.

“We can build a new culture and practice of identifying, celebrating and supporting our unsung heroes and heroines when they’re still with us. That is the only modest way through which we can show appreciation for their heroic acts.” Martha Koome said.

According to Koome, the National Heroes Council is decreed to identification, selection and honoring of national heroes and heroines whose contribution in nation building makes up the story of our great country.

Mbotela who is well known for his Radio and TV segment “Je, huu ni ungwana, ” will serve for 3years as a member of the board which consist of not more than 13 persons as stated by law.
