Tragedy struck on the night of August 9, 2025, when an ENA Coach bus headed for Kehancha was involved in a fatal road accident along the Escarpment near the historical Catholic church in Mai Mahiu.
According to a statement from ENA Investments Limited, the bus, registration number KDE 279Q, had departed Nairobi at around 8 p.m. carrying 47 passengers and three crew members. The incident occurred when a truck lost its brakes, striking two other vehicles before ramming into the bus from the rear. The impact forced the bus to veer off the road and overturn.
The company confirmed the loss of two passengers — an adult woman and a minor. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals by rescue teams from St. Johns Ambulance, police officers, and good Samaritans. Most of the injured have since been treated, cleared, and discharged.
“Our hearts go out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones in this tragedy,” said ENA Coach Chief Executive Officer Richard Mogire in the statement, extending condolences to the bereaved and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
ENA Investments Limited assured the public of its full cooperation with authorities in the ongoing investigations, reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety and exemplary service.
The company also expressed gratitude to all who assisted at the scene, calling for continued safety and caution on Kenyan roads.
