In an operation in Shikhendu, Trans Nzoia County, one of the two suspects who broke out of a police jail and took a gun from an armory was apprehended again.
He also left behind an AK-47 loaded with 14 bullets that he stole from the Shikhendu police armory. The 28-year-old Daniel Wanjala Sindani, one of the escapees from the Shikhendu police station, was reportedly apprehended on Friday night during an operation, according to the police.
He and another missing suspect snatched the firearm from the station, and it was later discovered with him. Authorities detained two cops who were on duty when the event occurred on January 26 as a result of the action. The public and government officials worked together to make the arrest and recover the items, according to the local police.
Samuel Wafula Barasa, one of those who managed to flee, is being sought, according to the police, who also noted that two rounds were gone. Following the theft of the pistol from the police armory on Thursday, two officers were detained.
This came about after the two suspects who were scheduled to appear in court for stock theft also managed to escape from their cells with an AK-47 rifle that was loaded with 14 bullets.
Two suspects broke out of their cells on Thursday between 3 and 5 a.m. at Shikhendu Police Station in Kiminini Sub County, Transnzoia County because the police constables had left the report office and sentry unattended.
