In a shocking turn of events, a female university student was discovered lifeless at her boyfriend’s rented residence in Katoloni estate within Machakos Township on Tuesday. The victim, pursuing a Bachelor of Education at Machakos University, met her untimely demise, sending shockwaves through the local community. The boyfriend, also a student at the same university, has been taken into custody along with another individual in connection to the incident.
Machakos Subcounty Police Commander, Emmanuel Okanda, revealed the grim details surrounding the discovery of the deceased student. Okanda reported, “This morning we received a report that there was a body belonging to a Machakos University student which was lying inside a house at Diaspora rentals.” The residence is approximately 4 kilometers south of the police station. Upon reaching the scene, officers observed that the victim’s hands were bound from behind using shoelaces.
Disturbingly, the young woman had visible injuries, with blood reportedly oozing from her ears, nose, and mouth during the process of moving the body from the house. Preliminary investigations indicated that the murder took place on Monday night. While two suspects, including the boyfriend, are currently in custody at the Machakos police station, Okanda emphasized that the exact cause of death remains undetermined.
The deceased was found lying face down when law enforcement officials processed the scene. At the time of reporting, the victim’s age had not been established. Okanda stated, “We have two suspects in custody to help in the investigations. The body was moved to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy to reveal age, whether she sustained other injuries and cause of death.”
As the police delve into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, Okanda issued a stern warning to students, urging them to refrain from criminal activities and focus on their education. He emphasized the importance of avoiding substance abuse and called for responsible behavior among the student population.
The police commander highlighted the ongoing investigations and the need for caution, stating, “We have launched investigations into the incident.” Okanda urged the public not to take matters into their own hands and instead seek support and counseling from elders, clergy, and other relevant members of society.
