Security Detail For Former President Uhuru Kenyatta Allegedly Withdrawn

Robert Alai, a Kileleshwa County Assembly (MCA) member, made the astonishing assertion that Uhuru Kenyatta’s security detail had been withdrawn.

The ODM politician said in a statement distributed via Twitter that the government has removed Uhuru’s security detail, according to sources within the security forces. “Sources inside the security structures have informed me that former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s protection detail has been withdrawn. No explanation was provided for the pullout of the security detail yesterday, Alai tweeted. His accusations come the day after Senator Simon Cherargei of Nandi called on President Ruto to revoke the benefits Uhuru has been enjoying since he ceded power in September 2022.

The removal of Uhuru’s official vehicles, security detail, and financial rewards, according to Cherargei, should take precedence over his involvement in politics.

He added, “If you saw him on Monday, he is still involved in politics, he hasn’t retired. Under the law, when you retire as president you are granted some government support line vehicle security, money, and office.

A retiring president is entitled to at least 30 office and household employees, including up to six security guards, two personal assistants, four secretaries, four messengers, and four drivers. Additionally, he is entitled to Ksh 332,062 to cover his energy, phone, and water expenses, as well as monthly pension fuel, home, and amusement allowances.

He is entitled to two four-wheel drive motor cars of his choice to meet his transportation demands. An ex-head of state and his spouse are entitled to diplomatic passports, up to four journeys of no more than two weeks each per year, local and international travel reimbursements, and access to the VIP lounge at all Kenyan airports.
