Azimio leader Raila Odinga has penned a condolence message to Pwani University fraternity following a fatal accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway today on Thursday, 30 March, 2023.
Atleast 14 people succumbed to the accident that involved the school bus and a matatu in Kayole-Karai area in Naivasha. The school bus was heading to University of Eldoret for sports competition.
According to trusted sources, the confirmed casualties include both students and lecturers.The accident is suspected to have resulted from break failure.
Through his twitter handle,Raila penned this;
“I extend my sincere condolences to the Pwani University community and all those who lost colleagues, friends, and loved ones in the regrettable accident that involved a Pwani University bus and matatu on the Naivasha-Nakuru highway.”
Rift Valley police boss Tom Odera said the death toll may rise.
“The bus rolled and killed 12 on the spot. We may have more casualties,” he said.
He added that the driver of the bus lost control and hit at least five vehicles before rolling into a ditch.
