President Ruto Orders Renaming of an Institution after Chebukati

President William Ruto has today ordered the renaming of an institution after former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

Speaking during the burial of the former IEBC official, held at Kiminini Constituency on Saturday, March 8, Ruto directed the area Member of Parliament Maurice Kakai to ensure that Sabata Secondary School in Trans Nzoia County is named after Chebukati. His decision was coupled with goodies from the government, announcing that the government will finance the construction of 15 new classrooms at the school.

“For this reason, I concur with your area MP that the name of the nearby school be changed, and I will coordinate the construction of 15 new classrooms at the institution,” Ruto announced, adding, “the classrooms will be built alongside the ICT hubs you mentioned because Chebukati used computer knowledge to ensure the integrity of the Kenyan elections.”

Ruto lauded the deceased for the manner in which he held the 2022 elections, which granted him presidency. According to the Head of State, it was in Chebukati’s leadership as the chair of IEBC that Kenya had transparent elections.
