An aircraft carrying 39 passengers veered off the runway while landing at Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Friday evening, but all those on board escaped unharmed. According to a statement by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the plane, which was arriving from Kisumu International Airport, experienced the incident at around 8:55 p.m.
KAA confirmed that there were no injuries reported among passengers or crew following the incident. “We wish to confirm that all passengers and crew are safe, with no injuries reported,” the authority said in the statement.
The aircraft remains at the scene as recovery efforts continue, although airport operations have not been affected.
“Airport operations at Wilson Airport remains normal,” KAA added.
The authority also assured the public of its continued focus on safety across all airports in the country.
“The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) remains fully committed to the highest standards of safety at all our airports,” the statement said.
Wilson Airport is one of the busiest airports in the region, mainly handling domestic and regional flights, and the quick response helped ensure minimal disruption following the incident.
