The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence and loss of lives during the nationwide protests held on June 25 and July 7, under the Saba Saba movement.
In its statement, the Commission raised concern over the unrest, framing it as a loud and painful signal of growing dissatisfaction in the country, especially among members of Generation Z, who have been at the forefront of the demonstrations.
The NCIC warned political leaders against inciting or taking advantage of youth frustrations for personal or political gain. It also appealed to all Kenyans to reject violence and embrace peaceful means of expression.
In response to the deepening generational divide, the Commission announced the expansion of its Transgenerational Conversations initiative.
The programme, which was launched in 2024, aims to bring together representatives across age groups, from the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers to Generation X, Millennials, and Gen Z to engage in open dialogue on governance, inclusion, and accountability.
According to the NCIC, the initiative is part of a broader effort to build mutual understanding and foster national cohesion through structured intergenerational dialogue.
As public demonstrations continue to reflect frustrations over economic and political issues, the Commission’s call for inclusive conversation offers an avenue for national reflection and bridge-building.
