MultiChoice Kenya has revised its subscription rates upward for both DStv and GOtv customers, in a move that is expected to impact thousands of households and businesses across the country. The price adjustment affects various packages offered under residential, business, and streaming services.
The company says the new rates take effect immediately, as part of a periodic review influenced by rising operational costs and market dynamics. While MultiChoice has not issued a detailed statement explaining the timing of the change, such adjustments are often attributed to inflation, currency fluctuations, and the cost of content acquisition.
For DStv residential subscribers, the revised monthly charges are as follows:
Lite – KES 750
Access – KES 1,450
Family – KES 2,250
Compact – KES 4,200
Compact Plus – KES 7,300
Premium – KES 11,700
XtraView – KES 1,700
GOtv users will also pay more, with the updated rates being:
Lite – KES 299
Value – KES 599
Plus – KES 999
Max – KES 1,699
Supa – KES 2,199
Supa Plus – KES 3,199
Meanwhile, Showmax subscribers will benefit from lower rates, with General Entertainment (GE) now priced at KES 550 (down from KES 650), and GE Mobile reduced to KES 200 (from KES 300). Other notable reductions include:
PL Mobile: KES 500 → 450
GE + PL: KES 1,000 → 800
GE Mobile + PL: KES 700 → 520
For DStv Business packages, the new prices include:
Stay Ultra – KES 3,370
Play Ultra – KES 15,650
Work Ultra – KES 5,850
Add-on packages for Asia, Europe, and French content remain at KES 500 each.
MultiChoice has not immediately disclosed the reasons behind the price adjustments, though such reviews are typically linked to inflationary pressures, operating costs, and currency fluctuations.
