The Ministry of Education has assured Kenyans of a credible, transparent, and well-secured 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination process as the national exams officially began on Monday. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok led senior ministry officials across the country in supervising the opening of examination containers, signaling the start of the tests for 996,078 candidates.
CS Ogamba, who launched the exams in Matuga Constituency, Kwale County, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the process. He noted that the ministry had strengthened security measures and improved the distribution network to ensure that exam materials reach all centres efficiently and securely. Ogamba added that adequate personnel had been deployed to oversee the smooth administration of the tests across all counties.
At the Westlands Deputy County Commissioner’s office in Nairobi, PS Bitok reiterated the ministry’s stance on upholding credibility in the examination process. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that we deliver a credible exam,” said Bitok. “We are pulling every resource to make sure invigilation, adjudication, and the integrity of the examination process are fully protected.”
The PS emphasized that the ministry had deployed sufficient teachers and invigilators to guarantee fairness and accountability throughout the KCSE period. He also highlighted the ongoing modernization of the education assessment system, noting that most Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams would be marked electronically to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Bitok further assured parents that there would be no significant increase in school fees for senior schools, explaining that only minor adjustments might arise depending on the three academic pathways — STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts and Sports.
The Ministry concluded by reaffirming its full commitment to a credible examination season, stressing that every measure had been taken to protect the integrity and fairness of the KCSE process nationwide.
