Canada-based lawyer Miguna Miguna has claimed that Kenya’s Gen Z inspired several other countries to rise against their governments but were the only ones who failed to achieve meaningful change. He said the movement, which had captured both local and international attention, quickly lost momentum even though it had initially shown great promise in uniting the youth for a common cause.
According to Miguna, what started as a powerful display of unity and defiance eventually collapsed due to internal divisions and poor coordination. He noted that disorganization within the movement weakened its impact and gave the government an easier path to suppress the protests while silencing dissenting voices.
Miguna observed that while other countries built on Kenya’s example to push for reforms and accountability, the Kenyan movement faded before achieving its goals. He argued that Gen Z’s struggle, although short-lived, showed the youth’s potential to demand change but also exposed the consequences of lacking structure and strategy.
He concluded that Kenya’s youthful uprising left behind valuable lessons for future generations, since it demonstrated both the power of collective action and the importance of persistence. According to him, only a movement with clear leadership and consistent focus can bring lasting national transformation.
