Kenya Safari Lodges and Hotels (KSLH) has taken a major step toward improving service delivery at its Tsavo properties following the acquisition of two new Isuzu buses.
The buses were officially flagged off in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, marking another milestone in the company’s modernization and turnaround strategy.The vehicles will be deployed at Voi Safari Lodge in Tsavo East National Park and Ngulia Safari Lodge in Tsavo West National Park.
According to KSLH, the buses will enhance staff mobility and guest transfers across the expansive Tsavo ecosystem, thereby improving operational efficiency and overall visitor experience.The flag-off ceremony took place at Isuzu East Africa’s assembly plant along Mombasa Road and was officiated by the Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Mr. Herman Shambi, on behalf of Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano.
Members of the KSLH Board and senior officials from Isuzu East Africa were also in attendance.Speaking at the event, Mr. Shambi underscored the importance of sustained investment in tourism infrastructure, noting that the sector contributes about 10 per cent of Kenya’s Gross Domestic Product and supports over two million jobs nationwide.
He emphasized that improved efficiency at key tourist destinations such as Tsavo plays a vital role in strengthening Kenya’s global competitiveness.KSLH Board Chairperson and Managing Director, Ms. Norah Ratemo, said the investment aligns with the organization’s broader goal of building a high-performing and sustainable hospitality enterprise.
She noted that Voi and Ngulia Safari Lodges occupy strategic positions within Kenya’s safari circuit, making operational capacity critical to guest satisfaction and destination competitiveness.The new buses, which are locally assembled 33-seater Isuzu NQR models, are also expected to support regional economic growth and conservation efforts by improving logistics within the parks.
KSLH Director General, Mr. Ronald Simiu, added that the acquisition reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local livelihoods and conservation-driven development.
Isuzu East Africa’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Wanjohi Kangangi, highlighted the importance of sourcing locally assembled vehicles, saying it promotes Kenyan jobs, skills development, and the Buy Kenya, Build Kenya agenda.
The acquisition signals renewed confidence in the growth of Kenya’s tourism sector and reinforces KSLH’s role in supporting sustainable tourism development.
