Kenyans will have free access to all national parks, reserves and sanctuaries managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) on Saturday, September 27, 2025. This announcement has been made by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano as part of celebrations for United Nations World Tourism Day.
Themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” this year’s global event is a reminder to the Kenyan governmemt of the power of tourism to drive conservation, support communities and grow the economy.
In a press statement, CS Miano said the initiative gives citizens a chance to reconnect with nature and discover the country’s wildlife heritage. She noted that free entry will also help foster a greater appreciation of Kenya’s biodiversity.
“By opening the gates to these iconic spaces, we aim to inspire a shared responsibility to protect them for generations to come,” she stated, adding that the event marks Kenya’s unparalleled beauty of natural treasures.
The Ministry urged Kenyans to take advantage of the offer to learn, explore, and celebrate the parks. It stressed that these natural attractions are not only Kenya’s pride but also part of the world’s heritage.The government says the move reflects its commitment to sustainable tourism, also reaffirming efforts to make conservation a shared national responsibility.
Further, the ministry has directed the visitors to check the KWS website and official social media platforms for any guidance and any additional information.
