JSC Appoints Mokaya Frida Chief Registrar of Judiciary

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the appointment of Mokaya Frida Boyani as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary for a five-year term.

Mokaya has over 27 years of experience in the legal profession, before her appointment, she was serving as the Registrar of the Judicial Service Commission since 2012.

She joined the Judiciary in 1997 and served as a District Magistrate, Resident Magistrate, Senior Resident Magistrate, Principal Magistrate and Senior Principal Magistrate.

Mokaya holds a bachelor’s Degree in law from the University of Nairobi and a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

As the Chief Registrar, Mokaya will serve as the chief administrator and accounting officer of the Judiciary and the secretary to the JSC and also the National Council on Administration of Justice.

Mokaya Frida comes into office after Anne Amadi stepped down as Judiciary chief registrar following the end of her 10-year tenure.

During her term, Amadi is the only registrar who has sworn in two Heads of state; Former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 and President William Ruto in 2022.
