International Workplace Group Expands Flexible Workspace Footprint in Kenya

International Workplace Group (IWG), a global provider of flexible and hybrid workspaces, has announced the opening of a new centre in Nairobi as part of its continued expansion across Kenya, driven by rising demand for flexible work solutions.The new facility, located at Zuhura Place on Thika Road, marks IWG’s latest addition to its Kenyan portfolio and reflects the growing shift by businesses toward hybrid and decentralised working models.

The centre is operated in partnership with Wakatt Limited, under a management agreement.IWG said the new location will cater to both local and international companies seeking modern, fully serviced workspaces outside Nairobi’s traditional central business districts.

The Thika Road corridor has emerged as a fast-growing commercial hub, supported by improved infrastructure, residential developments and proximity to key institutions.The workspace offers private offices, meeting rooms, co-working areas and creative spaces, designed to accommodate businesses of varying sizes.

According to IWG, the centre is intended to support startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and larger corporations looking for cost-effective and flexible office solutions.The expansion comes amid sustained demand for flexible workspaces across Kenya. IWG noted that its existing centres in Nairobi, including locations in Westlands, Upper Hill and the CBD, continue to record strong occupancy, prompting further investment in new areas.Research cited by the company indicates that hybrid working models can deliver cost savings for businesses while improving employee productivity and work-life balance.

IWG estimates that a significant share of commercial office space globally will transition to flexible formats by the end of the decade.IWG currently operates thousands of locations worldwide under brands such as Regus, Spaces and HQ, serving millions of members across more than 120 countries.

The company has continued to expand through partnerships with property owners and developers, particularly in emerging markets.Speaking on the development, IWG executives said the Thika Road centre aligns with the company’s strategy of bringing workspaces closer to where people live, reducing commute times and supporting sustainable urban growth.

Wakatt Limited described the partnership as a strategic move to position the building as a modern business destination within the rapidly developing corridor.The new centre is expected to strengthen Nairobi’s flexible office market while supporting evolving workplace trends in Kenya’s commercial real estate sector.
