Homa Bay Governor to Witness Swearing-In of 15 Chief Officers

On Monday, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga is set to witness the swearing-in of 15 Chief Officers who will be assigned to various departments in her administration. Among the appointees is Isaac Victor Ongiri, a former journalist for publications such as The Star, Nation, and Standard newspapers. Ongiri, who previously served as the Director of Communications in Kisii County Government, will now be responsible for the Administration and Devolution dockets.

Other individuals who will be sworn in include Elijah Obiny Dede, who will oversee the Cooperatives Development and Marketing department, and Bernard Ouru Nyobange, who will assume the role of Chief Officer in the Department of Roads and Transport. Additional appointees are Owino Hannington Day (Lands and Physical Planning), Collins Onyango Obango (Housing and Urban Development), Jack Maurice Obonyom (Blue Economy and Fisheries), and Bernard Okoth Omwanda (Livestock Development).

Furthermore, Ombok Mildred Judith will serve as the Chief Officer for Gender, Inclusivity, and Women Empowerment, Wilson Juma Ochola will oversee Economic Planning and Budgets, Maxwell Majiwa Omenda will handle the Irrigation department, and Ellyas Orondo Oketch will be in charge of Investment. Diana Anyango Ongere will assume the role of Chief Officer in the Mining docket, Kenneth Odhiambo will oversee Stakeholder Management, and Carren Atieno Otieno, a career journalist, will take over the communication portfolio.

These appointments were made by Wanga on June 22 after receiving approval from the county assembly.
