Gachagua Vows to Rally 7 Million Mt Kenya Voters for Kalonzo

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced a bold political move, pledging to mobilise at least seven million voters from the Mt Kenya region to back Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the upcoming 2027 general election.Speaking during a private consultative meeting with grassroots leaders, Gachagua said the region must unite behind a leader who is “committed to restoring national unity, economic stability, and respect for democratic institutions.”

He argued that Kalonzo represents a “fresh chance for national healing” after years of political tension and economic challenges.Gachagua revealed that his discussions with Kalonzo have been “fruitful and progressive,” adding that the Mt Kenya voting bloc long considered one of the most influential in national politics must not “waste its numerical strength on fragmented support.”He further noted that his team will embark on an extensive mobilisation tour across counties including Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Laikipia, Embu, Kirinyaga, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi.

According to him, the mission is to “educate residents on why Mt Kenya must negotiate from a position of unity in 2027.”Political analysts say Gachagua’s move could reshape alliances ahead of the polls, especially if he manages to consolidate a significant portion of the region behind a single presidential contender.

Neither Kalonzo nor his party has officially responded to Gachagua’s declaration, but insiders claim that talks between the two camps have been ongoing in recent months. If successful, Gachagua’s mobilisation would mark one of the most significant political realignments as Kenya approaches the crucial 2027 election year.
