Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday, April 27, 2025, attended a service at Boiman Ol Joro-Orok Catholic Church in Nyandarua County ahead of a highly anticipated interview with Weru Television later this evening.
In a statement on his X account, Gachagua said: “On Sunday, 27th April 2025, we discuss matters of our Nation, our future, and our progress as a people and as Kenyans. Join me on Weru Television for a candid and truthful conversation.”
Today’s appearance marks Gachagua’s second major media engagement this month. On April 8, he granted an explosive interview to KTN News, where he made serious allegations against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Boiman church service also marks Gachagua’s first public religious appearance following an incident at PCEA Mwiki Church on April 6, where hired goons disrupted the service and damaged vehicles in his convoy. Following the attack, the Deputy President wrote to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, claiming his life was under threat and alleging a coordinated attempt to disrupt his meetings across Kiambu, Naivasha, and other regions.
Nyandarua County is considered one of Gachagua’s political bastions, with local leaders such as Senator John Methu standing firmly behind him. Methu has been among the most vocal critics of the current government and has consistently defended Gachagua at public forums.
Gachagua’s visit comes three weeks after President William Ruto completed a five-day tour of the Mt Kenya region. However, Ruto’s team faced a rough reception in Nyandarua on March 3, where some leaders were heckled by residents.
The Deputy President’s Weru TV interview is expected to attract significant attention as he continues to strengthen his influence in the Mt Kenya region.
