Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje Claims His Life Is In Danger

Embakasi West Member of Parliament Mark Mwenje has claimed that his life is in danger following a shooting incident that happened in his constituency’s CDF offices.

It is alleged that the lawmaker’s bodyguard identified as Mr Eric Ojwang shot and injured two people at the Embakasi West Constituency Development Funds (CDF) offices.

Reports have revealed that the incident followed a fallout between the MP and his predecessor George Theuri.

The lawmaker has now asked the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula to intervene and ensure his safety.

“All I would like to say for now is that my life is in danger and this is the second time such a thing is taking place here. Someone is sending armed youth to my functions,” Mr Mwenje said after recording a statement at the Buruburu police station.

Yesterday April 6, 2023, the bodyguard was arraigned in a Madaraka Law court where he was released on a Sh 100, 000 cash bail but police officers were allowed to continue holding him for 14 more days.

The former Embakasi West MP reported at the Buruburu police station that there was a commotion at the CDF offices in Umoja One area which is located two kilometers of the station involving two groups. The current MP Mr Mwenje was there and in the melee his body guard identified as Mr Eric Ojwang shot the two.

Police officers however rushed to the scene right on time and the officer was disarmed of a Jericho Pistol which had 10 rounds of ammunition. The firearm has been kept as an exhibit.
