DCI Dismisses Viral Post on Organ Harvesting Allegations

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed allegations circulating on social media that it is pursuing an Indian national, Bellamkonda Ram Prasad, for alleged involvement in an organ harvesting syndicate in Kenya.

In a statement issued Tuesday morning, the DCI clarified that the viral post claiming detectives are on a manhunt for Prasad is false and misleading. The post alleged that Prasad, also known as “Pratapan,” orchestrated a network responsible for the deaths of young Kenyans and was operating an international human trafficking ring.

The fabricated claims suggested that Prasad had escaped custody in India, where he was reportedly held for similar crimes, and had allegedly entered Kenya on December 19, 2024. The post accused him of luring individuals under 30 years old into his operations and stated he was involved in a kidney harvesting syndicate.

According to the fake report, the DCI had announced a reward for information leading to Prasad’s arrest. It urged members of the public to report any details about his whereabouts to authorities.

The DCI, however, flagged the post as a deliberate attempt to spread disinformation, confirming that no such investigation or manhunt is underway.

This is not the first instance of false information being circulated online involving the agency. The DCI reiterated its commitment to providing accurate and verified updates to the public and warned against the dangers of spreading unverified claims.

The agency urged Kenyans to rely on official channels for credible information and to refrain from sharing unconfirmed reports that may cause unnecessary panic or tarnish reputations.
