Nairobi County Blames Budget Delay for Late July Salaries

Nairobi County employees will have to wait longer for their July salaries. The county government says delays in approving and uploading its budget have affected the release of funds.

In a circular dated August 10, 2026, and addressed to all staff, the Nairobi City County Government attributed the salary delay to budget-related processes that have stalled the release of money.

“The Nairobi City County Government wishes to inform all employees that there is a delay in the payment of July 2026 salaries, occasioned by the delay in the approval and uploading of the County Budget,” the notice stated.

County management said it is treating the matter as a priority and is working to ensure salaries are paid once the budget upload process is completed.

“Every effort is being made to expedite the necessary processes to facilitate the release of funds and ensure that salaries are paid immediately upon the uploading of the County Budget,” the circular added.

The county acknowledged that the delay could create financial difficulties for workers and their families. It appealed for patience as efforts continue to resolve the issue.

“We recognize that this delay may occasion financial hardship to employees and their families. We therefore appeal to all staff to remain patient, understanding, and committed to the continued discharge of their duties,” the notice said.

Management also thanked employees for their cooperation and professionalism during the period, promising to keep staff informed of any new developments.
